Two suspects sought in baseball bat beating
PORT ORFORD, Ore. -- State police are asking for the public's help in finding two men suspected of beating a man with a baseball bat inside of a park early Friday morning.
Officials said that they are looking for Allen Douglas Vonnevin, 33, and Glenn Allen Burkhow, 32, (both from Port Orford) in connection to an assault that happened at Paradise Point State Park.
Police said that a 49-year-old man was attacked by two men armed with a baseball bat. He was found at around 2:30 a.m. Friday, and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend with serious injuries.
The victim told police that he knew the men who hit him, naming Burkhow and Vonnevin as his attackers.
The man said that a woman was also present when he was attacked, he was not sure if she helped in the beating.
State troopers say they believe the men are still on the south coast. "We know that they are from the Port Orford area. They are well known to law enforcement and many people in the community. So, we don't know if they're still local or if they're on the move, but because they're well known individuals, people may have the information we need."
Anyone with information regarding their whereabouts is asked to call Curry County 9-1-1 or OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at (541) 776-6111.
