Two men injured in Salem drive-by shooting
SALEM, Ore. - Two men were shot in a drive-by shooting outside a party in Salem early Saturday morning.
It happened at around 12:30 a.m. outside a house in the 1000 block of Arabian Avenue SE.
A car drove by the house, where many people were gathered outside, and fired numerous shots, according to Don Thomson with the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
David Chavez, Jr., 26, was shot while he was seated inside his Honda Civic. He was taken to a Salem hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Deputies also found bullet holes in two nearby homes.
While detectives were at the hospital, a second gunshot victim arrived at the emergency room. Robert A. Apodaca, 26, drove himself to the hospital. His injuries are unclear.
Detectives believe at least one person returned fire at the suspects' car during the shooting, Thomson said. It's unclear how many shots were fired.
The suspect vehicle is described as a four-door, white or light-colored Malibu type car. It may have bullet holes in it.
Witnesses could not provide a description of the suspects inside the car.
Anyone who sees the suspect vehicle or has information about the shooting is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office 24-hour number at (503) 588-5032.
