EUGENE, Ore. - Bullet casings and crime tape littered a Eugene parking lot, evidence of a shootout between men in two cars outside the O Bar on Commons Drive in Eugene on Wednesday.

"Officers responded and found that there were multiple bullet casings in the parking lot and in the surrounding area," Sgt. Malcolm McAlpine said.

Police said as many as 12 bullets hit nearby cars and an apartment complex next door.

Neighbors and restaurant goers were outside when shots rang out around 11:30 a.m.

There are no reports of injuries.

And people who work in the area say this kind of incident is unusual.

"Every once in a while there might be a fight outside, but not very much," said Daniel Cuevas, who works at a hair salon next door to O Bar. "Other than just what happened. This is something new for the area."

After exchanging gunfire, the cars - a silver BMW and a light-colored or white sedan - took off, police said.

Springfield Police stopped the BMW about 2 miles away at Centennial Boulevard and First Street. Officers detained two men.

"There is what appears to be a bullet hole in the front of this vehicle," Lt. Scott McKee said of the car.

The other vehicle remained unaccounted for Wednesday evening.
