Trucker seriously injured in head-on crash into tree
PROSPECT, Ore. - A trucker suffered serious injuries when his semi crashed head-on into a tree.
State police identified the driver as 50-year-old Gary D. Flory of Redmond.
The Prospect Rural Fire Protection District worked for 45 minutes to pull Flory from the wreckage of his truck. He was taken by air ambulance to Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford.
The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. on Crater Lake Highway 62, between Propsect and Union Creek.
The Les Schwab truck and two trailers hauling tires went off the road for an unknown reason and hit a tree, state police said.
Oregon DOT remained on scene as of 1:45 p.m. coordinating removal of the debris.
Motorists should expect delays while crews offload the tires and remove the tractor-trailer from the side of the highway.
Expect single lane traffic controlled by flaggers and intermittent closures of up to 15 minutes between Prospect and Union Creek.
