State police looking for Douglas County poacher

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- Oregon State Police are looking for the person or people that killed a deer in the northern part of the county.

OSP Fish & Wildlife Division says someone shot and killed a large Columbian White-tail buck in the 7400 block of Scotts Valley Road East of Yoncalla.

Troopers say the deer was shot with a high-caliber rifle and left to waste on Friday or Saturday.

Officials say White-tailed deer are highly protected and there are very limited hunts.

The Oregon Hunters Association is offering a reward of $250 through the Turn-In-Poachers program for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people involved.
