State Police helps with Klamath County SWAT situation

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. -- State Police SWAT teams were called out to assist the Klamath County Sheriff's Office on Thursday afternoon after getting reports of a barricaded subject, Lieutenant Greg Hastings said.

The responding troopers drove down Highway 58 to quickly assist deputies with the situation. Officials said they were dealing with an armed man who fled his car along the Klamath Falls Highway (Highway 140E) Thursday afternoon.

State police closed down part of Hwy 140E about 13 miles east of Klamath Falls while law enforcement conducted their search.

Witnesses living in the Oakridge area said they saw nearly 10 unmarked police cars driving down the Highway 58 their lights and sirens on. Lt. Hastings said they were called out to assist with the situation near Klamath Falls.
