State Police: Douglas County man charged with child sex crimes
ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Douglas County man is behind bars, accused by Oregon State Police of sex crimes against a young teen girl.
State police detectives say that an investigation began on January 10, involving Barnett Allister Palmer, 19.
Authorities say the victim in the case, a 13-year-old girl, was known to Palmer, and also from the local area.
Detectives arrested Palmer on Monday, charging him with first degree sex abuse, second degree sodomy and first degree online sexual corruption of a child.
State police say Palmer communicated with his victim through digital media.
Palmer was lodged in the Douglas County Jail on $600,000 bail.
