Some forest fire smoke reaches Eugene

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Air quality dipped back into the moderate category as smoke from southern Oregon and northern California wildfires drifted north into the Umpqua Basin on Wednesday.

Air quality remained good in the Eugene area, according to air quality monitors.

But the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency warned that smoke is being carried aloft by winds out of the south.

Sally Markos with LRAPA said the southern Willamette Valley could expect smoke haze to be visible at times while the fires continue to burn.

The good news? The setting sun's rays reflect of particulate from forest fires, casting more brilliant sunsets - and giving the moon an orange glow.
