      Small brush fire closes Hwy 126W just west of Eugene

      EUGENE, Ore. -- Fire crews doused a small brush fire between Highway 126 W and the rail road track Sunday evening, briefly stopping traffic between Eugene and Veneta to handle the blaze.


      Crews were called to reports of a fire near W 11th Ave. and Goble Lane at around 7:20 p.m. Sunday.


      Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control and started soaking the residual hot spots.


      The road reopened shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday.


      Officials at the scene said they are still looking into what caused the fire.
