Sixth meningococcal case identified in Benton County outbreak
CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Officials are gathering to discuss vaccination efforts after a sixth meningococcal case was identified in Benton County outbreak, Oregon Health Authority reports.
In that sixth case, an undergraduate student attending Oregon State University in Corvallis is being treated for the disease.
The strain of the disease has not been identified.
Officials from the Oregon Health Authority Public Health Division, Oregon State University and Benton County will give an update on the meningococcal B outbreak affecting the university, and efforts to vaccinate OSU students and prevent further spread of the disease later Wednesday.
