COQUILLE, Ore. -- Two women fought off a drunk would-be burglar near Coquille Sunday evening, the Coos County Sheriff's office said.
Officials were called to a residence in the 600 block of E. Hwy 42 just south of Coquille just before 7:30 pm, for a report of a man that was trying to break into a home.
Deputies and police officers from Coquille arrived at the residence and contacted the three women who lived there, along with Joseph A. Norris, 45, of Coquille.
Officials say that the highly intoxicated Norris had come onto the property yelling, and began to kick the door.
When one of the women opened the door, deputies say Norris tried to get into the house.
That's when officials say two of the women fought him off.
Norris was arrested and taken to the Coos County Jail, charged by authorities with attempted burglary, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
