Sheriff: Wanted fugitive Gator's friend found hiding on rock in river
GLIDE, Ore. - Detectives on the hunt for a suspect known as "Gator" found one of his associates hiding on a rock in the middle of an Oregon river, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.
Detectives arrested Russell Finnell, 29, of Glide on an outstanding warrant for probation violation just before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Law enforcement found Finnell hiding on a rock in a swimming hole at the Colliding Rivers scenic viewpoint in Glide.
The rock was only accessible via the water. A sheriff's marine deputy and a Roseburg Police K9 unit assisted in taking Finnell into custody, the sheriff said.
The arrest came as part of the hunt for fugitive Caleb "Gator" Titus. The 26-year-old managed to escape captured Friday and has remained at large since, the sheriff's office said.
Titus is still wanted by Detectives. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office at (541) 440-4471.
