Sheriff: Man dies after motorcycle crash

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- A Roseburg man is dead, after deputies say he crashed his motorcycle into an oncoming car Friday evening.

Authorities say that at about 5:30 pm, James Robert Ganzini, 46, of Roseburg, was heading north on Old Melrose Road, following a pickup being driven by Terry Sprouse, 65, of Roseburg, about a quarter of a mile from the intersection of Old Melrose and Melrose Roads.

Officials say that as they were coming out of a corner, Ganzini tried to pass Sprouse in a no passing zone.

Deputies say the motorcycle crashed into a Subaru wagon being driven by Daniel M. Ishibashi, 26, also of Roseburg.

Authorities say Ishibashi tried to pull over to the shoulder to avoid the collision, but the motorcycle struck his driver's side fender.

Deputies say the impact threw Ganzini into the path of the pickup.

The vehicle struck Ganzini and the bike.

Ganzini was taken by Life Flight to Sacred Heart at RiverBend, where he later died.

Ishibashi was transported to Mercy Hospital, where he was treated for a broken ankle.

Sprouse was uninjured in the crash.
