Sheriff: Man chokes girlfriend after welcome party
COOS BAY, Ore. -- A man was arrested early Sunday morning, after the Sheriff's office says he strangled his girlfriend after a welcome to the neighborhood party.
Deputies were called to a residence on Braley Road just after 1:00 am, for a report of an assault.
Authorities say that when they arrived, they met with the victim, a 46-year-old woman, who said her boyfriend, Brian Donaldson, 31, had pulled her hair and strangled her during an argument.
Officials say that after talking to neighbors, it was learned that the couple had been at a welcome to the neighborhood party, when comments were made that led to the fight.
Neighbors told authorities that they heard pounding like 'construction work,' and then the victim showed up at a neighbor's door covered in blood.
The woman was transported to Bay Area Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Donaldson was arrested and charged by deputies with fourth degree assault and strangulation.
He was lodged in the Coos County Jail and held on $20,000 bail.
