Sheriff: Man arrested for pipe bombs, pot plant and stolen cars
CCANYONVILLE, Ore. -- Police found pipe bombs, a pot plant, drug paraphernalia, stolen vehicles and a drift boat on Thursday while following up on a burglary investigation, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies served the search warrant at 320 Moonlight Lane at around 9 a.m. Thursday.
During the search sheriff's deputies and investigators from the Douglas Inter-agency Narcotics Team reported finding:
- Two stolen vehicles
- Pieces of a third stolen vehicle
- Several stolen license plates
- A drift boat that had all identifying numbers destroyed
- Scales, syringes, one marijuana plant and two meth pipes
- Several blasting caps and two pipe bombs
The homeowner, 47-year-old Jerry Hawkins, was booked at the Douglas County Jail for manufacturing and possession of an explosive, four counts of first degree theft and unlawful use of a motor vehicle, as well as marijuana and methamphetamine possession charges.
During the search investigators found Timothy Weckerle hiding in the brush near the house. He was also arrested on two warrants involving possession of methamphetamine and felon in possession of a firearm.
Deputies called out the state police bomb squad to get rid of the pipe bombs.
