Sheriff: 2 women die when Jeep hit from behind by pickup in Linn County
ALBANY, Ore. - Two people died when their Jeep was hit from behind by a Ford F150 pickup Monday afternoon, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies identified the deceased as Carol Sue Torstrom, 66, of Lebanon and Diane Ellen Roth, 74, of Albany.
The two were in Torstrom's 2000 Jeep Wranger, westbound on Kamph Drive, when Torstrom slowed down to turn into a driveway.
As she slowed, her Jeep was hit from behind by a 2012 Ford F150 driven by Andrew Steven Lindquist, 33, of Lebanon, the sheriff's office said.
"Deputies learned Lindquist saw the Jeep ahead of him and anticipated it would turn into the driveway," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "He continued traveling and ran into the back of the Jeep when it did not turn as expected. The Jeep flipped on its top and landed in the ditch."
The investigation is ongoing. Investigators do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Anyone who was on scene or provided help after the crash is asked to call (541) 967-3950 and speak to Detective Wilcox, the sheriff's office said.
