REEDSPORT, Ore. - A school bus crashed into a guardrail above a steep cliff above the Umpqua River along Highway 38 on Tuesday afternoon, Oregon State Police said.
Two of the 7 students on board later sought medical treatment at the hospital in Reedsport, police said. The driver did not report being injured, police said.
The names and ages of the students and the nature of their trip were not immediately available.
The crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Hwy 38 east of Reedsport.
The Elkton Charter School #34 bus was westbound when the driver, 68-year-old David Wiley, said he was briefly distracted, according to police.
The bus hit up against a metal guardrail and collided with a sign before coming to a rest on the edge of the road on a cliff above the river.
The crash remains under investigation.
