Salem man dies after dump truck flips on Highway 99 near Corvallis

Benton County Sheriff's deputies are continuing to investigate a deadly motorcycle crash involving a dump truck about six miles north of Corvallis.

Deputies say Gary Henderson from Salem was driving north on Highway 99 West around 1:30 PM Friday in a 2005 Peterbuilt Dump Truck when a rear tire malfunctioned and blew apart. This caused Henderson to lose control of the dump truck, flipping it on its side and coming to rest on both lanes on the Highway.

Henderson was extricated from the truck and taken to Good Samaritan hospital in Corvallis with serious injuries.

Deputies say he was pronounced dead at the hospital seven hours later.

The Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the crash and the public is asked to call Deputy Daniel Ball at 541-766-6858 with any information.

The highway was closed for about two hours.
