TOKETEE, Ore. - A Roseburg couple remains in serious condition at a Portland hospital after their motorcycle hit a stump Saturday, throwing them down a 100-foot cliff.
Kenneth G. Minshew, 57, and Linda Minshew, 62, were taken by air ambulance from the scene of the crash to Rogue Regional Medical Center. They were transferred by air to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland where they are in critical condition, Oregon State Police said.
The crash happened just before 8 p.m. Saturday as the couple drove westbound on Highway 138 about two miles west of Toketee.
Police said the motorcycle went off the road and hit a stump.
The impact ejected the Minshews from the bike. Both were wearing protective helmets.
The impact sent Kenneth Minshew and the motorcycle over a 100-foot cliff, police said.
Members of the Douglas County Steep Angle Rescue team responded to the scene and brought Minshew up the cliff to the ambulance.
A tow company recovered the motorcycle the next day.
