EUGENE, Ore. - Homeowners flagged down arriving firefighters Wednesday night as they battled a garage fire with a garden hose.
"A male occupant of the house was putting water on the fire trying to keep it from exposing the house," said Lance Lighty, Eugene Fire batallion chief. "When we arrived we were able to extinguish the fire pretty quickly. We got the garage open and pulled a car out."
No one was hurt, but the garage of the North Grand Street home suffered extensive damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
