Reedsport man dead after gunfight with police
REEDSPORT, Ore. - The man shot in a gunfight with police last Thursday died three days later from his injuries, Oregon State Police said.
Glenn Ray Glancey, 71, of Reedsport died July 20. He was shot in an exchange of gunfire with police July 17.
Two Douglas County Sheriff's deputies and two Reedsport Police Officers responded to a reported verbal and physical disturbance at a mobile home park located at 1000 N. Eighth Street in Reedsport around 12:30 p.m. that day.
Glancey, armed with a handgun, confronted the officers when they arrived, police said.
Glancey and officers exchanged gunfire.
Glancey suffered at least one gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Both deputies from Douglas County Sheriff's Office and one Reedsport police officer are on paid administrative leave at this time, which is standard protocol during officer-involved shooting investigations, state police said.
The names of the involved officers are still withheld. No officers were injured.
An interagency investigation into the shooting will be sent to the district attorney to determine whether officers were justified in using deadly force against Glancey.
