EUGENE, Ore. -- City councilors will look at a proposal Tuesday that would close down Kesey Square in Downtown Eugene from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day.
Eugene Police say the Broadway Plaza attracts transient camping and illegal activities in the early morning hours.
The proposal is aimed at cutting down on that behavior by closing the square from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Eugene resident Ron Siever said he doesn't agree with the proposal because the area is meant for other locals to enjoy.
"You're always going to have people coming here after 11 o'clock. You got all the bars, all the restaurants. What are they going to say - people after the restaurant can't hang after 11 o'clock?" Siever said.
City councilors will take public comments on the proposal Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. during their meeting at Harris Hall.
