Police: Robber demanded money, made small talk with bank teller
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A bank robber made small talk with a teller after handing her a note demanding money, Springfield Police said.
The robber hit the Chase Bank on Q Street, located inside the Fred Meyers store just after 5 p.m. During the crime, the suspect talks with the teller.
"He does engage this clerk in conversation, but you know, you're actually witnessing a bank robbery," Springfield Police Lieutenant Scott McKee said.
After taking the money, the robber left the way he came in, police said.
Officers searched the area, to no avail.

The suspect is a white male adult about 5-foot-3. He was last seen wearing a blue and white flannel button-up shirt, blue jeans tucked into boots, a backwards baseball cap and dark sunglasses. He had a bandage near his left eye.
"Any desperate criminal act, there's always the potential of things going wrong, and so we're really interested in trying to get this guy in custody," Lt. McKee said.
