Police respond to shots fired at DQ in Cave Junction

Law enforcement responded to shots fired at the Dairy Queen on 213 Redwood Hwy in Cave Junction on Friday.

Law enforcement in the area was asked to be on the lookout for 36-year-old Jeffrey Alan Burleson, a fugitive wanted out of Florida.

At 12:30 p.m. officers from the Josephine County Sheriff's Office and Oregon State Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle suspected to contain Burleson.

When officers made contact with him he displayed a gun prompting the officer to shoot.

The Burlsedon has been shot and taken to AsanteThree Rivers Medical Center where he ultimately died.

The Josephine County Major Crime Team are currently investigating the incident.

The team consists of members from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, Oregon State Police, and the Josephine County District Attorney's Office.
