Police: Report of lewd nude man sparks chase

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A nude man masturbating along a public bike trail Monday evening got the attention of police, who chased and tracked the man for two hours before finding him hiding inside a car in a garage of a home, the Springfield Police Department said.

Officers arrested John Eugene Littrell, 43, on a long list of charges, including Indecent Exposure, Interfering with Police and Burglary 1. Littrell was also jailed on 8 outstanding warrants.

The case started Monday evening with a report of a naked man masturbating near women on the W. D St. bike path along the Willamette River, police said.

The suspect had put on clothes and started to leave the area when officers arrived, police said.

The suspect fled down along the river bank, disappearing into dense brush.

A K9 unit from Eugene Police responded to assist with the search.

After nearly two hours searching for the suspect, he was found hiding in a car inside the garage of a residence along the river.
The suspect, identified as Littrell, was taken into custody without further incident, police said.
