WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island have cancelled an Amber Alert for a 6-year-old boy who has been found safe.
WPRI-TV reports state police say Daniel Britt was found safe in Washington state with his mother. Details were not immediately released.
Daniel was last seen Jan. 8 with his mother, Andria Britt. Authorities had said she may have gone to Washington, where she had family members.
The Amber Alert said a court granted Daniel's father sole custody of him, after Andria Britt skipped a court date and failed to return the boy.

The court has since granted the father sole custody, the alert said.The alert also cited an "immediate risk of harm" to both Andria and Daniel Britt. The reason wasn't disclosed.Woonsocket police said investigators had gotten permission from the family court to examine Andria Britt's medical records and determined the child could be in danger, which prompted the Amber Alert, the Providence Journal reported.Authorities said Andria Britt drives a red 2004 Ford Focus with Rhode Island tag 942-649. She's 34, 135 pounds and 5 feet, 5 inches.Daniel has blue eyes and brown hair. He is 4 feet, 3 inches, and 50 pounds.
