Police: Man with meth tried to run, Taser used

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Roseburg police say a North Bend man tried to run from them on Friday, but was caught after officers used a Taser to subdue him.

Police say that they received several reports that the occupants of a black 2002 Volkwagon Jetta were involved in drug activity.

At about 8:30 pm, officers say they found the vehicle on Harvard Avenue near Shazaam's.

Officers say when they contacted one of the people in the vehicle, the man took off on foot. Police used a Taser to subdue the man, identified as Justin Morris Hammer, 27, of North Bend.

Police say Hammer was in possession of more than 1/4 ounce of methamphetamine and had a warrant for his arrest.

Officers lodged Hammer in the Douglas County Jail, charging him with unlawful possession and delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful delivery of methamphetamine with 1,000 feet of a school and attempting to elude on foot.
