ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Police say they used a K-9 to track a thief who stole over $1,000 from a local business and took off on foot.
Officers from Roseburg were called to the Abby's Annex in the 1600 block of NE Stephens at about 11:20 pm Tuesday night.
An employee said he was collecting the lottery money for the day, when a man grabbed over $1,000 from the business and fled the area on foot.
Roseburg police called in K-9 Iago to try to find the suspect, later identified as Trask Austin Phelps, 28, of Roseburg.
Iago tracked Phelps down and he was arrested without incident.
Police say most of the money was recovered, but that's not all. They said Phelps also had some meth and prescription pills with him.
Officers lodged Phelps in the Douglas County Jail and charged him with first degree theft, unlawful possession of meth and unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, on top of an outstanding warrant.
