Police: Man found covered in mud 4 hours after bank robbery
EUGENE, Ore. - A man found covered in mud Monday afternoon faces charges he robbed a bank a few hours earlier.
Neighbors in the Harlow Road area called police at 4 p.m. to report a man seen running through backyards. Police found Jeremie Wesley Skordahl, 33, of Eugene covered in mud.
Officers noticed that Skordahl resembled the suspect who robbed the US Bank branch in the Albertsons on Coburg Road just before noon Monday.
After comparing Skordahl to the bank surveillance photos, the officers took Skordahl into custody on charges of second degree robbery.
Police said the incident both highlights the importance of citizens notifying the police when they notice something suspicious and illustrates the benefit of having a functional, high-quality video security system at banks.
