EUGENE, Ore. -- A 21-year-old Springfield man died Saturday afternoon after he fell onto Interstate 5 from the Glenwood exit overpass, Oregon State Police said.
State Police officials said they are investigating the death as a suicide.
"We talked to a witness who said the person was by themself, climbed over the railing and jumped," said Oregon State Police Sgt. Michael Brewster.
Sgt. Brewster said troopers are looking for a driver who may have hit the man after he fell onto the roadway. Witness statements said the vehicle was a white Ford F-150 pickup.
ODOT closed down the right lane of Interstate 5 northbound for over an hour while troopers conducted an investigation.
Any other witnesses, including the driver of the unidentified pickup, are asked to contact Senior Trooper Youngblood at (541) 726-2536 ext. 425.
