Police: Man, 32, caught in back of car with teen half his age

LEBANON, Ore. - A 32-year-old Eugene man faces accusations he drove to Lebanon and had illegal sexual contact with a girl half his age Tuesday, the Lebanon Police Department said.

Police booked Steven Overton into the Linn County Jail on charges of third degree sex abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and online sexual corruption.

On January 21, a Lebanon Police officer contacted Overton and the 16-year-old girl. The pair exited the rear doors of a car parked in the corner of a church parking lot, police said.

Police said Overton had driven from Eugene to Lebanon to meet the girl. The two had been in contact via some kind of electronic messaging, police said.
