Police ID shooting victim, continue search for 'armed and dangerous' suspect
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The man shot in the abdomen Thursday morning remains in intensive care at the hospital, police said.
Springfield Police said Joshua Morgan Harris, 24, of Springfield underwent surgery Thursday before being moved to the ICU. Police described his condition as stable.
"Police responded to a report of a disturbance with shots fired yesterday morning at about 8:30 a.m and found Harris lying in the yard in front of the home suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen," Lt. Scott McKee said.
"The search for Summerlyn went into the night last night," McKee said Friday, "and officers in the region remain on alert for the fugitive, who is still considered armed and dangerous."
Police swarmed the neighborhood Thursday, asking neighbors to shelter in place and locking down nearby schools.
Anyone with information about Summerlyn's whereabouts should not contact him, police said. Instead, you are asked to call the Springfield Police Department at (541) 726-3714.
