Police: Glide man arrested with homemade bomb in backpack

ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Police say a Glide man was arrested at the Roseburg VA Wednesday, after officers found a homemade bomb in his backpack.

At around 2:00 pm, Joseph Eugene Campos, 19, was contacted by VA police after they say he was on the VA campus acting suspiciously.

Police say that during a search of his backpack, officers located a small homemade destructive device.

The Oregon State Police bomb squad came from Medford to dispose of the device.

Officers say Campos was arrested without incident, and say they don't believe he intended to use the device against anyone.

Campos was lodged in the Douglas County Jail, charged by police with unlawful manufacture and possession of a destructive device.
