Police: Drunk runs from cops after jumping on top of a parked car

EUGENE, Ore. -- Officers chased a man five blocks Saturday night after he jumped on top of a parked car just off the University of Oregon campus, Eugene Police said.

The incident started at around 10:45 p.m. when witnesses told police a man was jumping on the hood of a car parked near 13th and Agate Street while yelling at people.

Police Sergeant Kyle Williams said that the man ran when a patrol car came to investigate the incident. The patrol car followed the suspect to 12th and Ferry Alley.

Sgt. Williams said officers found the man hiding in some bushes with the help of some residents in a nearby apartment. The arresting officers said the man was noticably drunk.

The man was booked in the Lane County Jail on criminal mischief, interfering with police and resisting arrest.
