Police: Drunk driver with baby on board crashes into stopped car
EUGENE, Ore. - A man driving drunk with an infant in his car slammed into a 1968 Mustang stopped in traffic Wednesday, injuring the 89-year-old driver, police said.
Eric L. Gross, 29, faces charges of DUII, reckless driving, endangering, assault and driving without a license or insurance, police said.
Witnesses reported seeing his blue 1985 Volvo wagon swerving before the crash on River Road at 3:45 p.m.
Both Gross and the woman in the Mustang were taken to the hospital. Their injuries are not known.
Both cars were totaled in the crash, and a third vehicle suffered minor damage when the Volvo pushed the Mustang into the car ahead of it, police said.
The Department of Human Services took protective custody of the infant in the car with Gross.
