COQUILLE, Ore. -- Police say a Coquille woman is behind bars after she sliced her daughter with a kitchen knife.
On Sunday at about 6:30 pm, the Coos County Sheriff's office responded to a residence in the 92000 block of Hilltop Road for a reported disturbance.
A 911 caller reported that Wendy Welch, 39, of Coquille, had become out of control with family members and had attempted to stab her 24-year-old daughter with a kitchen knife.
The knife was taken away by another family member while law enforcement responded, the Sheriff's office said.
The investigation found that Welch had cut her daughter on the back with a weapon during the scuffle.
Welch was taken into custody by Sheriff's deputies on charges of Assault III and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
She was taken to the Coos County Jail and lodged on the new charges, as well as outstanding warrants out of the Coos Bay Police Department for Aggravated Theft and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.
The daughter did not require medical attention at the scene.
