Pedestrian hit, killed by car on Hwy 34 east of Corvallis
CORVALLIS, Ore. - A car hit and killed a woman after she stepped into the highway early Wednesday morning, Oregon State Police said.
The crash happened at 12:15 a.m. on Highway 34, about 2 1/2 miles east of Corvallis in Linn County.
The investigation found that pedestrian Janet Irene Steele, 38, of Albany walked onto the highway and was hit by an oncoming 2002 Buick driven by Patrick Farina, 49, of Alsea.
Steele died as a result of her injuries.
Farina cooperated with investigators. Police said no charges are anticipated against the driver.
