EUGENE, Ore. – A homeless family will sleep in their new apartment Friday night thanks to efforts from the Eugene Police Department and the community.

On December 24, Eugene Police Downtown Bike Team and Patrol Team surprised the family with gifts and a motel room to make the holidays special.

On Monday this week, the officers noticed the family needed help with housing for the night.

So, police notified local property owners through the Rental Property Program to find them a home.

People responded immediately wanting to help. Others reached out to offer household items, clothing, and food.

The family moved into their new unit Friday.
