Officers searching for subject who fled scene at fatal crash on Bailey Hill Road
EUGENE, Ore. — A single-vehicle crash took place early on Saturday morning on Bailey Hill Road and Four Oaks Grange road, killing one person.
Eugene Police and Eugene/Springfield Fire responded to the crash at 2:26 a.m. to find that an occupant of the vehicle was non responsive and not breathing.
Life-saving measures were started, but these attempts were not successful, and the victim succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash.
Multiple officers and a Police K9 responded to the scene in attempt to locate another person whom witnesses say fled from the scene. An area search is ongoing and the identity of the subject who fled is unconfirmed at this time.
The identity of the victim has not been released yet.
Investigations reveal that the vehicle, a 1981 Toyota SR5 pickup, was traveling west on Bailey Hill Road at a high rate of speed, lost control and struck a tree on the side of the roadway just prior to Four Oaks Grange Road.
