EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon DOT crews ask motorists to be patient as de-icing trucks work to improve the safety on area roads.
Several de-icer trucks are working in tandem to clear Beltline on Monday morning, staggered in both lanes, said Rick Little with Oregon DOT. Drivers have been changing lanes and passing the trucks on the left and right, creating a safety hazard for drivers, he said.
"ODOT crews are working hard to remove snow and ice from the highways," Little said. "Please do not pass plows and de-icing trucks on the right. If you see a line of trucks working together, please be patient and travel behind them."
On Friday, motorists passing a de-icer truck on Interstate 5 caused the rig to crash.
It's illegal to pass a snow plow in Oregon.
