EUGENE, Ore. - Firefighters knocked down a house fire during the noon hour Tuesday.
Everyone was out of the W. 18th Avenue home when fire crews arrived at 12:40 p.m.
"Initially on scene the crews found smoke coming out of the front door, not a lot of heat but the front door was open so we had smoke there and fire out a window in the backside of the house," said Battalion Chief Jeff Kronser.
The fire was out 11 minutes later.
Firefighters said the fire appears to have started in the bathroom and spread to the hallway.
There is extensive smoke damage throughout the house.
The firefighting responsed closed West 18th in the 4000 block.
Disaster action team volunteers with the American Red Cross responded to help the two adult residents of the home.
