Motorcyclist killed in crash with pickup in Springfield

EUGENE, Ore. - A motorcyclist died from injuries suffered in a collision with a pickup truck Tuesday.

Police said the motorcyclist, Douglas Miller, 47, of Springfield, was driving east on A Street when he crashed with a pickup crossing the roadway at 10th Street. The collision caused Miller to lose control of is motorcycle and crash, officials said.

At the intersection, A Street traffic is not controlled; 10th Street has a stop sign.

The pickup's driver, Melissa Grieve, 22, of Port Townsend, Wa., told police she didn't see Miller driving on A Street.

Miller was taken to Sacred Heart at Riverbend where hospital staff pronounced him deceased.

Grieve and her passenger were not injured in the crash and are being questioned by police.

The major accident investigation team was on scene during the noon hour.
