Motorcyclist dies after hitting pickup truck in attempt to pass
SILETZ, Ore. -- A man died after he drove his motorcycle into the side of a pickup truck Friday night while trying to pass the truck on Logsden Road.
Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputies were called out to the crash outside of Siletz, Ore. just after 6 p.m. Friday.
They arrived to find the motorcyclist, later identified as Richard Berenson, 64 of Siletz, laying unresponsive on the ground. Fire personnel at the scene confirmed Berenson as dead.
The crash happened when a 38-year-old Siletz woman was making lefthand turn into a private driveway. Crash investigators said Berenson tried to pass the pickup on the left when he ran into the driver's side.
Berenson was then thrown from his motorcycle and died from crash-related injuries, officials said.
The driver of the pickup and her passenger were uninjured. She has been cooperative with the sheriff's office investigation and officials do not believe they will press charges.
