LEABURG, Ore. - An online fundraising campaign gathered the $2,500 needed for Thomas Lincoln and his crew to build a scale model of the propose Springfield Arch.
"Everyone who's seen it so far walks away impressed, and they haven't even seen it at this state of level yet," Lincoln said.
He came up with idea of the arch three years ago. Decades ago, an arch welcome people to the city - but a flood wiped it out.
Now with the help of a small team, Lincoln's idea is closer to reality.
"It's practical in terms of orienting tourists," he said. "It's practical in terms of attention it'd bring to the City of Springfield and the McKenzie River corridor."
The model of the arch will make its debut over the weekend at the Mckenzie River Arts Festival in Leaburg.
