Missing man found alive, made it back to Lane County
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. -- The Sheriff's Office says the man from Lane County who was missing since Monday morning has been located.
On Monday, Eugene Lanz, 73, called the Douglas County 911 center from his cell phone, saying that he was stuck on a road in a remote area and was in distress.
The line disconnected while the 911 operator was trying to get more information.
Family members told the Sheriff's office that they last spoke with Lanz on March 23.
At that time, the family said they believed he was headed to the Coos Bay area.
Information from the phone company indicated that Lanz was in the Cavitt Creek area off of Little River Road near Glide.
Authorities say the Douglas County Sheriff's Office was advised that Lanz was located Tuesday before noon.
He called Lane County 911 and advised that he got a ride from a passing motorist and is at home.
Lanz was evaluated by medical personnel.
The Sheriff's office says the search in Douglas County was staffed by Sheriff's deputies, DCSO Search and Rescue, Josephine County Search and Rescue, Jackson County Search and Rescue (Ground units and Air asset), the Oregon National Guard Aviation Division and the BLM.
