McMinnville police chase ends with suspect upside down
MCMINNVILLE, Ore. - McMinnville police found a man suspended upside down in the driver's seat after a police chase early Friday morning.
Oscar Rocha is in custody. Police say he was driving a red Isuzu SUV recklessly in Southeast McMinnville at around 1:00 a.m.
As officers chased him, the car lost control and crashed through a fence. It kept going, only to spin out, roll, land on its top and slam into a streetlight pole at the intersection of NW Cypress St and NW 4th Ct.
Police said Rocha even turned off his headlights to hide from officers during the chase.
Rocha was wearing a seatbelt. When police pulled up, they saw him strapped upside down in the driver's seat. Officers had to cut the seatbelt to get him out and arrest him. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Rocha now faces a number of charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle and attempt to elude. Police say the SUV had been stolen earlier in the evening from SW Acorn Ct in McMinnville.
