SCIO, Ore. -- A man was found dead in his overturned car late Sunday morning by a man walking along Thomas Creek near Highway 226, state police said.
Just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday police dispatchers in Albany got a call from a resident walking along the Thomas Creek riverbank near Shindler Bridge Drive reporting an overturned vehicle with a dead man inside.
Crash investigators said the deceased driver of the car, later identified as David Marler, 49 of Scio, went off the roadway near milepost 14.
The car rolled down an embankment and came to a stop flipped on its top along the riverbank, police said. Officials are still looking into what caused Marler to leave the roadway.
