PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) Attempted murder charges have been filed against a Portland man accused of firing a shotgun at three young people who tried to steal marijuana plants from his yard.
Sgt. Pete Simpson of the Portland Police Bureau says the incident occurred Saturday morning, when two men and a 16-year-old boy tried to take Robert Zachow's plants outside his home in Southeast Portland. The 44-year-old man confronted them with a shotgun and fired as they ran away.
Nobody was hit by the gunfire, but Zachow was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on three counts of attempted murder. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
One of the three young people was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The others were released from the scene.
