Man, 32, in critical condition following shooting

CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. -- A 58-year-old man is in jail and another in critical condition following an altercation and shooting Monday night, said Oregon State Police.

Authorities say that at about 10:45pm, troopers responded to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of Junction Inn located on S. Redwood Highway.

Troopers say they found Immanual Angel Day, 32, of Illinois Valley, critically injured from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Authorities say the investigation found that Day and an acquaintance, Ronald Dale Fehlhaber, 58, also from Illinois Valley, had been involved in a fight, when Fehlhaber shot Day with a 9mm handgun.

Day was initially transported by Mercy Flights via air ambulance to Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. He was later transferred by ground ambulance to Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford where he is in critical condition.

Fehlhaber was lodged in the Josephine County Jail on charges of attempted murder, first degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
