Loon Lake homicide investigation continues
LOON LAKE, Ore. -- The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is continuing to investigate the homicide of Paul Coates, 76.
Coates was found shot dead in his Loon Lake area home last week.
An autopsy was conducted on Friday by the Oregon State Medical Examiner in Clackamas, Oregon.
The autopsy confirmed that his death was caused by a gunshot to the head.
Detectives are continuing to conduct interviews of Loon Lake residents and other associates of Paul Coates.
Oregon State Police Crime Lab personnel responded and processed the crime scene. The evidence seized will now be sent to the lab for processing.
Authorities say Coates lived alone at his residence.
The investigation is continuing.
